The Lagos state government has arrested several motorcycle riders, also known as ‘Okada riders’ who illegally migrated to the state from the North.
In a series of tweets by the Lagos state government on its official and verified twitter handle *@followlasg,* the state government disclosed that the arrest was jointly coordinated by the commissioner for the environment and water resources, Tunji Bello and his transportation counterpart, Dr Abimbola Oladehinde.
A video also posted showed an intercepted truck filled with motorcycles. Several young men were then seen coming out of the inner parts of the truck and were made to line up.
The government disclosed that the truck had been filled with 48 motorcycles and 123 young men.
The truck and its occupants were subsequently moved to the taskforce office at Oshodi for interrogation.
The government disclosed that the arrest were made following a tip off from members of the public who were very concerned about the manner in which the occupants of the truck conducted themselves.
